The search for the 2017 Hi-Tec Walkerbay Xtreme King and Queen is on. The three-day WBX adventure sports festival is scheduled to take place in Hermanus between the 29 April and 1 May next year. Race organiser Rick Oosthuyzen says that the addition of the 6 Big Xtreme challenges to the existing program, will add a whole new dimension to the Xtreme.
The challenge will undoubtedly test the mental and physical limits of each entrant. Athletes will be required to participate in more than one event per day, testing them to the limits. This will be no mean feat and even the most seasoned of athletes is bound to find the trail severe. In addition to the glory of being crowned the ultimate Xtreme King or Queen, podium winners will also share in a prize purse of R30 000.

Excitement is Building
Vicky van der Merwe is super excited about the addition of the Big 6 Xtreme. She is the defending WBX triathlon champion and says she is thrilled at the prospect of entering the WBX Big 6. Vicky loves the idea that athletes strengths and weaknesses will be tested through the various events and from experience is sure most people will have to overcome some sort of extreme challenge in order to complete an event. Vicky is also delighted to be competing in what she says is one of the most beautiful coastal towns in the world.
